Diaper Guide

Happy baby!
Five Diaper Changing Tips

1. Always monitor your baby's pee and poo

Pee and poo are important indicators of changes in baby's health condition.
Take note of any changes in baby's pee and poo -- frequency, texture, color, and amount, etc.
If baby is peeing less or producing hard poo, that could be a sign of dehydration.

2. Gentle dabbing!

To avoid rubbing the skin, gently dab on soiled areas. If poo is stuck to baby's bottom, soften it by applying a cotton pad or wipe soaked in lukewarm water to the area before wiping.

3. Humidity is the bottom's enemy!

Babies sweat--a lot! And when they've just peed, the level of humidity inside baby's diaper can reach up to 80% or more.
When the skin is under such humid conditions, it causes the skin to wrinkle and become sensitive to irritation. Before you put on a new diaper for your baby, wait till his bottom is completely dry. It'll also be good to give your baby some "bare-butt" time occasionally. Leave him "diaper-less" for a while to give his diaper area a chance to "breathe".

4. Talk to your baby and give lots of loving touches

When you change baby's diaper, give both legs a gentle massage. Talk to your baby, saying things like "You have peed; that's great." "You're all clean now! "It's nice having a clean diaper on, isn't it?" Baby will love it, and lots of skin contact also relaxes both mother and baby.

5. Make eye contact.

Newborn babies can see things from as far as 30cm. When you change baby's diaper, remember to look into baby's eyes and smile as you talk. Babies are highly sensitive to their parents' mood. Make baby feel safe and at ease by showering them with love.

Remember to smile!

Parenting, including changing diapers, does not always go smoothly according to our wishes. Even though you may not be able to do everything perfectly, it is fine. Just remember that it is alright if you don't do something perfectly the first time as there's always next time. Babies love to see you happy!
