A newborn pees about 10 to 20 times a day. As he grows in the next few months, the frequency will decrease but the amount discharged each time will increase.
The newborn's first poo is greenish black in colour and sticky in texture. This is a special poo called "meconium", which contains amniotic fluid that the baby had been taking in the womb.
For the first month, the newborn's poo is wet and watery, and some may poo up to 10 times a day. On the other hand, there are some babies who do not poo for 3 to 4 days. Although it differs according to individual babies, the poo frequency should stabilise to about 1 to 2 times a day.
