Not at all. The secret to this beauty lies in the micro world. It is a secret shared by every Asian.

Have you ever seen the magnified view of your skin during a skin diagnosis at a cosmetics counter? At the Hair Beauty Research Centre, we do the same when we look at the magnified cross sections of hair to research the quality of Asian hair. Each shape is unique and differs from person to person. When you compare Asian and Caucasian hair, it is evident that they have different characteristics.

Looking at hair colour, Caucasian hair is light while Asian hair tends to be dark. The wavy Caucasian hair tends to have oval-shaped cross section while the usually straight Asian hair tends to have round cross section. The average diameter (minor axis) is 76 microns for Asian hair and 52 microns for Caucasian hair, which makes Asian hair 1.5 times thicker. Even for Asians with fine hair, the cross sections of their hair are about the same as that of Caucasians with thick hair.

It is precisely this 1.5 times thickness that makes Asian hair naturally beautiful.

Why is hair thickness so important for beautiful hair? If we measure the strength that causes hair to spring back when it is stretched, it is evident that thick hair is more resilient. It is this resilience that makes hair supple and bouncy. Thicker Asian hair has this resilient and supple quality.
